Chia seeds have been very fast rising the superfood ladder because of its vast benefits. Nonetheless, chia seeds are loaded with so many benefits high in protein, fiber, calcium, omega3 and antioxidants. Perhaps there is a right and wrong way to have chia seed. How to have chia seeds is equally important to how much of chia seeds.

Before getting to know what is the best time to have chia seeds let us understand why it is important to soak overnight before having chia seeds. Chia seeds absorb 15 times more water than its own weight. This makes it increase in size and keeps the stomach full. Many have learned the hard way by having dry chia seeds without being soaked.

Few people those who had chia seeds without been soaked in water had to guzzle water twice the quantity then they usually drink. After having chia seeds and the need to keep on guzzling water would not be a very comfortable experience. Since it soaks water very fast it is not going to wait for itself to reach the stomach before it absorbs water. That’s going to be a really uncomfortable experience.

 

BEST TIME TO HAVE CHIA SEEDS

Chia seeds are preferred in morning breakfast, afternoon lunch, night dinner & evening snacks time. Hydrated chia seeds slow down the digestion process and keep your stomach full for longer period of time. Hydrated chia seeds are more useful to the body they help in controlling the blood sugar spike and decreasing cholesterol and keep your hydrated longer.

Having chia seeds after a full meal would slow down the digestion process and make you feel uncomfortable or lazy. Idle time to have chia seed should be after breakfast and before lunch so that it helps you in reducing weight and keeps you hydrated the whole day.

If you are following a specific diet plan to keep yourself light and lose weight the most important suggestion would be, not lay down after having chia seeds. Now if you hit the bed after having chia seeds which will slow down the digestion process and will add weight instead of reducing it.

Choosing the right time to have chia seeds would start with the reason behind it. Staying hydrated is your goal then have before the workout, exercise, or any physical activity. If reducing weight is your goal then ideal would be after breakfast and before lunch. The last choice would be after lunch and before dinner in the evening.

 

HOW MUCH WATER TO BE SOAKED IN CHIA SEED

All the chia seeds should be completely soaked into the water. And maybe a little above that. Putting too less water would not hydrate all the chia seeds.

I usually mix 1/3 cup of chia seeds and 3 cups of water.

 

CHIA SEED IN WATER IS THE ONLY OPTION?

You can be a little creative with some dairy products too. Your other favorite beverage would also add a value of chia seeds.

Note: Avoid soaking chia seeds in Energy Drinks and other hard beverages or even aerated drinks.

 

BEST TIME TO SOAK CHIA SEEDS

Since most people would prefer to have chia seeds in the morning or after breakfast one should soak in the night so that they are good to go in the morning. Overnight soaking or over soaking does not reduce the quality of the chia seeds.

Many time you forget to soak in the night and this disturbs the routine of having chia seeds. This happens to all of us.

Tip: We usually soak in the night and then keep it in the refrigerator the quantity required for a period of one week. Once in a week, we refill the jar of chia seeds in the refrigerator.
